Rocky Mount School Bus Accident Results in Injuries to Several Students

Reports indicate that a driver who may have been impaired caused a serious accident with a school bus in Rocky Mount, NC on Thursday.

The accident happened on N.C. Highway 97 near Halifax Road.  Apparently, a driver of a Honda Civic drove left of the center line and struck the school bus which was transporting students attending the Tar River Academy.  Five students were taken to Nash General Hospital and one student appears to have more serious injuries.  The driver of the bus was transferred to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville which serves as the trauma treatment center for this part of North Carolina.  The driver of the Civi has been charged with multiple crimes including driving while impaired.
