On Friday night, a woman riding a bicycle was seriously injured when she was hit by a van on Hodge Road. The wreck happened in a crosswalk near the location where the Mingo Creek Greenway crosses Hodge Road.

According to available information, the 1996 Ford Econoline van failed to yield to the woman and hit her in the crosswalk.

The woman was taken to the hospital with critical injuries but was expected to survive.

The driver of the van has been charged with failure to yield.

A bicyclist named Jane Beach was tragically killed on Saturday afternoon while riding her bike near Asheville, North Carolina.

The wreck happened around 5:00 pm on North Carolina Highway 191. According to available information, a woman driving a Buick struck Ms. Beach and then fled the accident scene.

The woman was later apprehended and has been charged with several crimes including driving while impaired, driving with a revoked license, and felony hit-and-run.

Ms. Beach was 56 years old and from Columbia, South Carolina. She initially survived the collision and was transported to Mission Hospital in Asheville but tragically did not survive.

A bicyclist was injured on Monday after being hit by a vehicle that then fled the accident scene.

The wreck happened at the Interstate 85 North exit for Mount Hope Church Road.

The driver of the offending vehicle was later caught by police and has been charged with felony hit-and-run, driving while license revoked, and failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision.
