The accident occurred around 3:45 pm on Randleman Road. According to available information, Mr. Gilchrest was walking across the street when he was hit by a man driving a Nissan Rogue SUV.

Mr. Gilchrest was transported from the scene to a local hospital but he tragically passed away on Tuesday.

The man driving the Nissan Rogue has been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Mr. Gilchrest who was 58 years old and from Greensboro.

Sinclair Larson, an All American swimmer in 2019 at the University of Tennessee, was seriously injured on Sunday evening as she was walking her dog in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

According to available information, Ms. Larson was walking across the street in a marked crosswalk with flashing lights when she and her dog were struck by a vehicle. Mr. Larson was taken to UNC Hospital with serious injuries. Her dog Jasper was also injured.

A gentleman named Tran Viet Tran was tragically killed on Wednesday night when he was hit by a car while walking his dog in north Charlotte.

The tragic accident happened around 8:00 pm near the intersection of Prosperity Church Road and Pinewood Lane. According to available information, a man driving a Toyota Highlander was speeding and went off the right side of the road and hit Mr. Tran and his dog who were on the sidewalk.

Mr. Tran and his dog were both killed. The driver of the Highlander has been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and careless and reckless driving in addition to failure to maintain a lane.
