Delco, N.C. (December 30, 2020) – A very serious accident in Delco, North Carolina has resulted in serious injuries to a car driver.
The accident happened at the intersection of U.S. 74-76 and N.C. Highway 87 sometime on Wednesday morning. According to available information, a pickup truck pulled out from a stop sign at the intersection into the path of an oncoming car. The impact of the collision caused the car to flip over resulting in serious injuries to the car driver.
Reports indicate that the pickup truck driver may have been blinded by the sun. However, in such circumstances, the pickup truck driver clearly should not have advanced into the intersection. North Carolina drivers have a duty to proceed into an intersection only when doing so can be done safely and after maintaining a proper lookout. There is no indication as to whether any charges have been filed as a result of this collision but charges would seem appropriate against the pickup truck driver in this instance.
