A woman named Latoya Mercer of Ahoskie, NC was seriously injured in an accident near Murfreesboro, North Carolina on Tuesday afternoon.
The accident happened around 3:30 pm on northbound US Highway 258. According to reports, a second vehicle failed to reduce speed and struck Ms. Mercer’s vehicle from behind forcing her vehicle across the center line and into a ditch. Ms. Mercer was airlifted to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC for treatment. There were three passengers in Ms. Mercer’s vehicle including Cierra Jones, Eric Jones, Jr. and Alnester Spruill who were all transported to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries. The driver of the car that struck Ms. Mercer’s vehicle has been charged with a failure to reduce speed.
