A gentlemen from South Carolina named James Best was killed early Thursday morning while walking along Highway 17.
The wreck apparently happened around 5:30 a.m. near the Calabash area. Apparently Mr. Best was struck by a truck as he walked to the courthouse in Bolivia. Reports indicate that no charges will be filed. However, it is not clear what caused this wreck and it would seem that there are many unanswered questions. Where was Mr. Best along the road – was he in the roadway or along the shoulder? Should the truck have seen him and avoided the wreck?
