A terrible crash last week near Elizabethtown, North Carolina has resulted in the deaths of Shawarn Melvin-Jones and Carol Brewington.
The wreck happened around 4:30 pm on NC Highway 242. According to available information, a woman driving a 2017 Kia went left of center and hit a 2003 Ford Mustang driven by Shawarn Melvin-Jones. The impact knocked the Mustang into a head-on collision with a van driven by Carol Brewington.
The driver of the Kia has been charged with numerous offenses including speeding and driving left of center. It would seem likely that the final charges would include two counts of misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.
Ms. Brewington was 75 years old and from Clinton, North Carolina. Mr. Melvin-Jones was 22 years old and from Roseboro, North Carolina.
