Yeopim River Boat Accident Results in Two Deaths

A tragic boating accident happened on Friday on the Yeopim River in northeastern North Carolina.

According to reports, the accident happened when the boat ran aground and possibly struck a tree.  The accident happened in southern Chowan County.  As a result of the accident, two boaters were killed and a third boater was injured.  It is not clear what caused the boat to run aground as the accident happened during the day at around 1:45 pm.

Accidents involving boats running aground or striking tree stumps are a significant concern for boaters in North Carolina.  Many North Carolina waterways have hidden shoals or tree stumps hidden under the surface of the water.  Hopefully, for the sake of the victims, there is sufficient insurance for the boat to cover the significant claims that arise from such a tragic accident.
