A terrible wreck in Greene County on Friday has claimed several lives. The wreck apparently happened when an SUV crossed the center line on U.S. Highway 13 and crashed into an oncoming car. Killed in the wreck were Shirley Mitchell who was driving the SUV and Chiquiti Taylor and Jonathan Lucas, Jr who were in the other vehicle. Another passenger in the Lucas car was seriously injured. Zebulon Wreck Injures Two Teens, Alcohol Consumption Apparently Involved
As reported by WRAL TV, a serious one vehicle wreck on Highway 96 late Friday has sent two teens to the hospital with serious injuries. According to the article, alcohol may be involved and the driver of the vehicle, Nolan Mitchell, has been charged in the incident. The passenger in the Mitchell car, Philip King, is apparently in critical condition. Click here for more.
Fuquay Varina Neighborhood Dealing With Water Contamination
As reported in an excellent story by the Raleigh News and Observer, a neighborhood near Fuquay Varina is restling with a contaminated water issue. The neighborhood, called Northgate, has well water which has been found to contain high levels of tricholoethylene, a chemical compound used as an industrial solvent and known to be a carcinogen or cancer agent. The contamination apparently is coming from a former mill now owned by Guilford Mills. Click here for the story.
Angier Wreck Kills Lillington, North Carolina Man
A terrible wreck in Angier has claimed the life of an Angier man. The wreck happened when Nicholas Grady of Raleigh lost control of his car on Old Buies Creek Road and crossed the center line and collided with another car. Salisbury, North Carolina Wreck Claims One Life
A terrible wreck in Salisbury happened Thursday night when a tractor trailer was blocking both lanes of highway 601. While the tractor trailer was blocking both lanes, a minivan driven by Joe Doby was driving down 601 and ran under the tractor trailer killing Mr. Doby. Thursday Morning Wreck on New Hope Road Injures Raleigh Man
As reported by WRAL TV, a serious wreck at the intersection of New Hope Road and US Highway 64 has seriously injured a Raleigh man. The injured man, Andrew Palmer, was driving a 2003 Honda when he was hit by Michael DeGruy. Mr. DeGruy was charged with failure to stop for a red light. Click here for the article.
Raleigh Rickshaw Driver Hit By Woman Talking on Cell Phone and Driving While Intoxicated
As reported by WTVD, Raleigh rickshaw driver Justin Walker was hit early Sunday morning while riding to WakeMed to see his wife. Reports are that a fiery crash on Highway 70 near LaGrange has sent two people to Lenoir Memorial Hospital. According to the story, Keymony Baker and Sharena Dunn, both of Kinston, were injured when Luther Apperson of Beaufort failed to yield the right of way as he attempted to make a left turn at Highway 70 and Eason Road. Young Children Survive Harnett County Wreck That Kills Grandmother
In a terrible wreck on Highway 55 near Coats, North Carolina, a grandmother was killed while turning left off of Bill Avery Road. Four young grandchildren in the car survived but were taken to hospitals for treatment of non-like-threatening injuries. The grandmother, Sue Clayton, was struck by a dumptruck traveling on Highway 55.
