As reported by WRAL TV, the State of North Carolina Division of Public Health has concluded that glucose monitoring devices are responsible for the spread of hepatitis B at the Glencare assisted living facility in Mount Olive, North Carolina.  Click here for the article.

As reported by the Fayetteville Observer, a car head south on I-95 flipped and struck an SUV that was traveling north.  The driver of the car and a passenger were taken to the hospital.  The driver of the SUV, William David Humphries of Lake City, South Carolina, was also injured and taken to the hospital with what is reported to be a broken leg.  For more, click here.

As reported by WITN, a worker at the Seabrook Ingredients peanut processing plant died Thursday in a workplace accident.  The article indicates that is not clear how the worker, Steven Phelps of Edenton, actually died.  Click here for the article.

A terrible wreck on U.S. 220 north of Candor, North Carolina has caused the death of a Candor woman.  The wreck apparently occurred when driver Rudolfo Juarez lost control of his car and struck a car driven by Patricia West killing Ms. West.  Juarez was charged in the incident.  For more, click here.

As reported by the Raleigh News and Observer, a 39 year old man working at a Raleigh recycling facility was killed in a work related accident.  The worker, Simon Martinez, was killed at the Sunoco facility located at 111 S. Rogers Lane.  It is not presently clear how the accident occurred.  Earlier this year a worker at a Sunoco facility in Salisbury was crushed to death.

As reported by the Goldsboro News Argus, a 53 year old man was killed Friday morning and his body was found in the media of US 70 near Goldsboro.  The victim, Richard Leon Cook, appears to have been hit by a car that left the scene.  For more, click here.

As reported  by the Raleigh News and Observer, a pedestrian was killed Saturday morning on Ca[ital Boulevard in Raleigh.  The victim, Richard Christopher Maher, died after he was hit in the southbound lanes near the intersection of I-440.  The driver of the vehicle apparently fled the scene.  For more, click here.

In an interesting article from the Charlotte Observer, the number of safety trained boaters in North Carolina increased in 2009.  Nonetheless, there were 154 boating accidents which resulted in 22 fatalities.  The article points out that a 2010 regulation now requires boaters younger than 26 to complete an approved boater safety course.  For more, click here.

Reports are the a two car collision in Greenville has claimed the life of one of the drivers.  The accident occurred on Greenville Boulevard and 33 year old Takela Anderson was killed.  There is no indication as to who was at fault or what caused the accident.  For more, click here.
