In what may be the beginning of a wave of class action litigation over foreclosure practices, several plaintiffs in Maine have brought a class action against GMAC Mortgage.  The plaintiffs claim that the company routinely and systematically files false certifications that it has a right to foreclose on Maine homeowners, and false affidavits when asking courts to enter foreclosure judgments.  For more on this filing, click here.

As reported by ABC 11, a terrible crash has caused the death of three young North Carolinians.  The one car accident happened on NC 222 near Fremont and resulted in the deaths of Ashley Haskins, Joshua Brantley, and Jacob Floars.  The driver of the vehicle, Mark Pope of Fremont, survived the crash.  Police are still investigating the wreck.  For more, click here.

As reported by the Raleigh News and Observer, Four Oaks resident Stacy Pittman was killed Saturday morning when an SUV turned in front of him while he was riding his motorcycle.  For more, click here

As reported by MyFox8.Com, Burlington native Kevin Burke was seriously injured when another driver went through the red light at North Church Street in Burlington. Mr. Burke was apparently airlifted to UNC Hospitals for treatment of his injuries. For more, click here.

A Wilkes County couple has been arrested in the hit and run death of a 17 year old moped driver.  The wreck happened on September 10 and resulted in the death of Victor Manual Rogue.  The arrested couple, Patricia Mash and Billy Mash, face numerous charges relating to the incident.

Thankfully, the excellent work of the Wilkesboro Police resulted in the arrest of these two people.  No one should get away with leaving the scene of an accident.

A wreck early Saturday morning in High Point, North Carolina claimed the life of Suquan Rogers, a passenger in a truck.  According to reports, speed was a factor.  Two other passengers were taken to a local hospital.  For more, click here.

According to reports in the Tulsa World, an interesting class action case involving a bankrupt company has reached a settlement.  The case involves Arrow Trucking and the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) which requires any company employing more than 100 people to give each employee at least 60 days notice of a plant closing and the termination of their employment.  Failure to provide notice can make employers liable for 60 days of wages per employee.  Furthermore, under federal bankruptcy statutes, an employee of a bankrupt company is entitled to a priortiy claim in the bankrupcty case.
