I have written about many North Carolina accidents over the past few years but few are as appalling and sad as this terrible wreck.  Apparently tractor-trailer driver Johnny Spell passed a stopped school bus on U.S. Highway 421 near Harrels, NC and struck a little 7 year old girl.  To make matters worse, the tractor-trailer driver, Johnny Spell, then fled the scene.  he was later apprehended and charged with numerous crimes.  The little girl, Alyiah Morgan, did not survive the accident.  Mr. Spell apparently works for Lucas Ricky Trucking in Roseboro.

A woman named Zaida Juarez was apparently doing nothing more than standing on the shoulder of NC Highway 147 when she was struck by a passing vehicle on Friday morning.

The vehicle, reported to be a white Toyota Camry, fled the scene.  Ms. Juarez was on the shoulder of the road following an earlier accident.  She was taken to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries.

This is a very unusual hit-and-run in that numerous witnesses identified the vehicle that struck Ms. Juarez.  Hopefully, police will be able to apprehend the driver in this important accident.
