A woman was seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident on Pennsylvania Avenue in Southern Pines on Tuesday evening.  The accident happened just before 9:00 pm as the woman was leaving a Town Council meeting at the Douglas Community Center in Southern Pines.

The only available description of the vehicle is that is is apparently gray and may have damage form the victim.  The woman that was hit was seriously injured and was eventually transported to UNC Chapel by helicopter for medical treatment.  Hopefully, the excellent doctors at UNC will be able to successfully treat this innocent victim.

A woman named Lisa Moore was seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident on Wednesday in Wilmington, North Carolina.

The accident happened at the intersection of N 29th Street and Chestnut Street around 1:30 in the afternoon.  There is some indication that the offending vehicle may have been stolen.  Anyone with information about this serious hit-and-run accident is asked to call the Wilmington Police Department.

A gentleman named Charles Cooper was injured in a hit and run accident in Moore County on Saturday evening.  The accident happened in Moore County as Mr. Cooper was walking along N.C. 211 near the intersection with Sawgrass Road.

Mr. Cooper was transported to UNC Hospitals and is fortunately expected to survive his injuries.  There is no information about the vehicle that hit Mr. Cooper and authorities have asked that anyone who may have information contact the NC Highway Patrol.

A gentleman named John Otis Hill was killed on Wednesday night in a horrific accident in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

According to reports, Mr. Hill was walking along North Cleveland Avenue near East 25th Street when he was initially hit by a vehicle.  In what must have been a horrific event, Mr. Hill was apparently dragged for over 2 miles before being left in the middle of the road at Kapp Street and Idlewild Industrial Drive.  According to reports, the driver initially stopped but then kept driving with Mr. Hill trapped under the car.

A gentleman named Earl Dupey, Jr. was killed on New Year’s Eve while apparently walking along the edge of an Onslow County road.

Reports indicate that Mr. Dupey was hit around 8:00 pm on N.C. 24 by a pickup truck that did not stop following the accident.  Police apparently found parts of a sideview mirror from a Chevrolet or GM truck at the scene.  Mr. Dupey was transported to a Wilmington hospital for treatment but did not survive his injuries.  There is no indication as to whether he would have survived had the driver stopped as required by law following the accident.

A gentleman named Jimmy Suggs was killed early Sunday morning in a hit-and-run accident on US 258 in Greene County, North Carolina.

The accident happened around 4:30 am about 1/2 mile north of Browntown Road.  Apparently a vehicle struck Mr. Suggs and then fled the scene.  The news article regarding this accident suggests that Mr. Suggs may have walked into the path of the vehicle although it is not clear where that information comes from.

On Tuesday evening an intoxicated driver caused a wreck in Denver, NC that sent four people to the hospital with injuries.

The driver, Samuel New, crossed the center line and crashed head-on into a car carrying a woman, her daughter and her two granddaughters.  Mr. New then attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended by Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies.  Police found an open beer can in his car and he apparently blew a 0.24 on a breath test.  This reading is three times the legal limit.  Mr. New has been charged with felony hit-and-run, DWI, open container violations, driving left of center and a seatbelt violation.

The victims of this accident were transported to Presbyterian Hospital in Huntersville, NC.  Reports indicate that Mr. New had been drinking at a bar called Safari Miles in Denver before the accident.

A Burlington man was arrested after a hit-and-run accident in Burlington, NC on Friday evening.

The accident occurred at the intersection of North Park Avenue and Elmira Street around 9:50 pm.  Apparently, Wilson White ran a red light and hit a vehicle operated by Tonnie Curry.  Mr. Curry was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  Following the accident, Mr. White apparently got out of his vehicle and left the scene on foot.  He later turned himself in.

A Raleigh man was arrested last week on charges of hit-and-run after he left the scene of a Knightdale accident on Friday.

The accident happened at the intersection of Knightdale Boulevard and Smithfield Road.  An 18 year old woman named Quanisha Carter was injured in the accident.  The driver of the car, William Swain, was also charged with driving with a revoked license.

Two people were hospitalized on Thursday as a result of a hit-and-run accident near the intersection of Castle Street and Wrightsville Avenue.

According to reports, someone driving a stolen Acura hit a second car and then jumped out of the car and fled the scene.  Police are still seeking information regarding the driver of the Acura.
