A gentleman named Christopher Cook was tragically killed in an accident on Wednesday afternoon at a busy intersection in Wilmington, North Carolina.

The accident involved a mini-van that apparently hit Mr. Cook as Mr. Cook crossed the road at Carolina Beach Road and Shipyard Boulevard.  Initial reports suggest that the minivan was traveling with a green light but that is not confirmed.  It is also not clear whether Mr Cook was sufficiently established within the roadway such that the minivan should have avoided the collision.

A young woman named Keyona Verdell was tragically killed early Sunday morning in a pedestrian-car accident on New Hope Church Road in Raleigh, North Carolina.

The accident happened just before 6:15 am in the area near Green Road.  Apparently, Ms. Verdell had been riding in a vehicle and decided to get out and walk.  After exiting the vehicle, Ms. Verdell apparently attempted to cross New Hope Church Road when she was hit by a woman driving a Toyota car.  The driver of the Toyota was cited for driving without a license.

A gentleman named Stephen Locklear was walking along U.S. 15 near McColl, SC on August 29 when he was hit by a car and killed.

The driver of the vehicle that hit Mr. Locklear fled the scene but was later caught.  Mr. Locklear was from Laurinburg, North Carolina and the driver of the vehicle involved was also from Laurinburg.

A woman named Lisa Dietz was seriously injured on Tuesday morning after a car ran a red light.  Ms. Dietz was apparently walking in the cross walk at the intersection of Third and Castle Street when a Volvo ran the red light.

In response to the Volvo running the red light, a second car swerved to miss the Volvo and struck Ms. Dietz.  Ms. Dietz was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center with a serious head injury and was reported to be in critical condition.

Charges are reportedly pending against the driver of the Volvo.

A hit-and-run accident in Lincoln County, North Carolina on Wednesday night has resulted in the death of a woman.

There is very little information available about this accident except that it happened along a road about 4 miles north of Lincolnton at around 8:30 pm.  Apparently, the victim was walking home from a convenience store when she was hit.  As far as we know, police are still investigating this accident.

A woman was seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident on Pennsylvania Avenue in Southern Pines on Tuesday evening.  The accident happened just before 9:00 pm as the woman was leaving a Town Council meeting at the Douglas Community Center in Southern Pines.

The only available description of the vehicle is that is is apparently gray and may have damage form the victim.  The woman that was hit was seriously injured and was eventually transported to UNC Chapel by helicopter for medical treatment.  Hopefully, the excellent doctors at UNC will be able to successfully treat this innocent victim.

There is very little information about a serious accident involving a female pedestrian in Raleigh on Thursday night. According to reports, the accident happened on Mangum Street near Branch Street around 9:30 in the evening.  It is not clear from the reports whether the woman or the driver was at fault.  However, North Carolina common law requires that vehicles do not drive too fast to reduce speed based on the lighting conditions and the reach of their headlights.  Hopefully, the Raleigh Police Department will have more information on this accident following their investigation. A gentleman named John Otis Hill was killed on Wednesday night in a horrific accident in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

According to reports, Mr. Hill was walking along North Cleveland Avenue near East 25th Street when he was initially hit by a vehicle.  In what must have been a horrific event, Mr. Hill was apparently dragged for over 2 miles before being left in the middle of the road at Kapp Street and Idlewild Industrial Drive.  According to reports, the driver initially stopped but then kept driving with Mr. Hill trapped under the car.

A young man named James Johnson was killed early Saturday morning in an accident near Goldsboro, North Carolina.

The accident happened on Highwya 70 east of Goldsboro.  According to available information, Mr. Johnson was walking near Lake Wackena Road when he was hit by a vehicle.  It is not clear from the information available where in the roadway the accident happened or whether the driver of the vehicle should have seen Mr. Johnson as he walked.  However, the investigating officers have apparently not issued any citations arising form the accident.  Mr. Johnson did not survive.

Melissa Flynn was pushing her 10 month old daughter in a stroller through a parking lot of Alamance Regional Hospital when they were unfortunately hit by a drunk driver.

The accident happened early Wednesday morning at around 2:45 am.  According to reports, Ms. Flynn had put her daughter Aubrey in a stroller and was moving to the back of her car when the drunk driver hit them.  The driver of the car has been charged with DWI and felony serious injury by vehicle.  Melissa Flynn was treated and released at Alamance Regional while her daughter Aubrey was transported to UNC.  UNC provides trauma care for this part of North Carolina.
